Life at Ravensbourne

September 2022

My first year at Ravensbourne is going to fly, I can tell already.

I am focussing this first term on learning Avid and Resolve. The great thing about Ravensbourne is the way year 2 students pass on their knowledge. I’m especially grateful to my mentor in year 2, who immediately started teaching me Avid. It feels great to upskill and be able to improve every day.

November 2022

Learning After Effects for the motion graphics project has been a challenging area of Post for me but useful all the same and it’s good to be practising new skills.

January 2023

I can’t believe it’s already term two! We heard today that we’re going to be editing a heist drama and a documentary – I can’t wait!

March 2023 I’m already loving the editing unit and learning so much about story structure, tempo and pace and the ability to constantly improve my editing skills and technique.

Conforming files from Avid to Resolve and using the ACQ machine was a challenge but is amazing skill to have learned for future projects.

It was fascinating to learn of the history of screen storytelling and seeing how film editing techniques have evolved over the years watching clips of old favourites as well as more recent work.

I can’t believe how much I have learnt here in just two terms - I couldn’t have made a better choice of uni and can’t wait for what next year holds!
